This guide is specifically for people who owned the first edition of Catacombs & Castles, and have purchased the Catacombs & Castles 2E Upgrade Box. If you do not own the original Keystones & Keeps or Siege Defender expansions, you can ignore the stickers and new pieces for those expansions.
1. Remove the stickers from all of your original Catacombs & Castles, Keystones & Keeps, and Siege Defender wood pieces (if applicable).
- If you have the Siege Defender expansion, you can choose not to remove the stickers from the Siege Defender tentacle pieces, as they have been replaced by new discs. You may safely discard these pieces.
2. Lay out each of the new sticker sheets on a clean surface.
3. Sort your wood pieces by size and colour.
4. Apply the new stickers to the wood pieces in the same fashion as described on page 3 the Catacombs & Castles 2E manual.
Note that some wood discs in Catacombs & Castles 2E have changed colour. The stickers provided in the upgrade box are straight from Castles 2E, and so some of your wood discs will be a different colour than shown on the sticker sheets. The differences are noted below:
- The missile shot stickers are applied to white discs, instead of brown discs.
- The shield stickers are applied to white discs, instead of purple discs.
- The shuriken and longbow shot stickers are applied to white discs, instead of gray discs.
- The vortex, egg, fireball, and target shot stickers are applied to white discs, instead of orange discs.
Please refer to the graphic below to see where each sticker should be applied.
You may also notice some other differences from the first edition:
- The ice boulder and giant fireball have been added. A new large white disc is included.
- The lightning and hook shot have been added. New small white discs are included.
- The missile and grappel shots are no longer double sided, and have their own pieces. New extra small white discs are included.
- The Siege Defender tentacle pieces have gone from extra small discs to medium discs. New small white discs are included.
- The Castle Bosses in the Siege Defender expansion are no longer double sided and have their own discs. A large white disc is included.
